Classic car enthusiasts are polishing their vehicles ready for Sunday’s first anniversary of the successful Cars on the Colne events.

The events are a joint venture between Roman Roadsters, Colchester’s Classic Vehicle Group, and Colchester Sea Cadets.

It takes place at the lightship TS Colne Light at the Hythe.

John Killick from Roman Roadsters says: “We’d outgrown our old venue for our monthly classic vehicle meets – with the support of the Sea Cadets and use of their lightship TS Colne Light we gained a brilliant new location at the heart of Colchester”.

Andrew Davenall of the Sea Cadets adds: “Our Lightship makes a great backdrop to the classic vehicles, but we open the ship so that vehicle exhibitors and the public can come aboard to enjoy a cuppa and bacon baguette.

"These monthly events have raised valuable funds that we plough back to support our cadets."

Cars on the Colne is held on the third Sunday every month, from 10am – 1pm, with the first anniversary this Sunday, February 17.

All classic vehicles, their owners, and the public are welcome to the free event.
