A GRATEFUL mum says she is “over the moon” after big-hearted well-wishers rallied round to raise £2,000 in just two weeks to pay for vital treatment for her poorly son.

Little Harrysson Wright suffers from a medical condition which affects his bladder and kidneys.

The five-year-old also has autism and cerebral palsy.

Last week, the Standard reported how his family were trying to raise money to help get a diagnosis for his severe kidney problems.

They needed £2,000 to pay for a trip to the private Portland Hospital in London for further tests.

Now well-wishers have rallied round to hit the target.

Mum Karly Rogers, of Glebe Road, Heybridge, she said thrilled to see the community coming together to help her brave son.

Mum-of-four Karly, 31, said: “It’s really good.

“What we are going to do now is talk to the hospital and set things in motion.

“People said they had seen us in the newspaper so I think that has helped.

“I think it’s good to get it out there.

“There have been so many people who said they will donate some money in at the end of the month.

“I’ve also had anonymous donors say the same so it’s been a great response.

“It was encouraging because he went to school for two weeks which is the longest he’s been there since September.

“Sadly, Harrysson has been ill again with another kidney infection.

“We’ve kind of been back and forth to the hospital so it hasn’t been easy.

“It’s discouraging to see him poorly again but the sooner we can have answers, the better.

“If we just had someone to give us a better idea of his condition so that we can go to the hospital every six months and not every few days, we could plan for family holidays better.”

Harrysson goes to St Francis Catholic school in Maldon.

The school is also helping the fundraising drive.

Karly said: “The school is holding a cake sale on Friday to raise money for him.

“The school has been very good.

“They all care about Harrysson so much.”
