TWO men aged in their 50s were attacked by two men following a row in a pub in Brightlingsea.

Police were called to Queen Street following the incident, which happened on Saturday at around 8.25pm.

Officers said it is believed the attack happened following a verbal altercation inside the Kings Head pub.

A boy and a man were later arrested on suspicion of assault.

A spokesman for Tendring police appealed for witnesses to come forward.

"One of the victims suffered serious injuries and both were taken to hospital," he said.

"Officers then attended two addresses in Brightlingsea and arrested a 17-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man on suspicion of assault.

"It is believed that this incident began with a verbal altercation inside the Kings Head pub, before escalating to violence in the street outside.

"Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been inside, exiting or entering the pub at around this time."

The 17-year-old and a 22-year-old are currently in police custody.
