RUMOURS Ann Summers is to open a shop in genteel Frinton’s Connaught Avenue have proved to be premature.
The Gazette had been contacted by a number of residents and a councillor over the speculation.
It has been rumoured the risque chain is looking at opening up in the former NatWest branch.
Residents have historically been protective of the street, once labelled the Bond Street of the East, and have protested over the opening of the fish and chip shop and the Lock and Barrell pub.
But a spokeswoman for Ann Summers slapped down the rumours.
“Unfortunately this information is not correct,” she said. “We have no plans for a store opening at this location”.
