A GROUP of travellers who pitched up on Clacton seafront will be given a notice to leave within 24 hours.
The group of two caravans and a truck arrived on land between the Martello Coach Park and the Toby Carvery in Marine Parade West.
The site is owned by Tendring Council, which is working closely with the Essex Countywide Traveller Unit to remove them.
Paul Honeywood, cabinet member for housing, said the council will be following its normal procedures.
“We have asked the unit to serve a Direction to Leave which we anticipate will take place tomorrow,” he added.
“That will give the travellers 24 hours to move on and we hope that they will comply with the notice.”
If that is not the case a court date has been set aside and the unit will issue the group with a summons.
Over the weekend there were reports that a group of travellers had set up on land next to Brook Park on London Road.
Tendring Council said officers checked the site this morning but there was no sign of them.
