BUDDING young journalists from a Tendring school battled against the clock to create their own news packages for a national event.
More than 1,000 schools across the country took part in the BBC-organised News Day 2015, including Tendring Technology College.
Seven pupils with a passion for reporting from the school’s Thorpe campus were helped by A-level media students as they set out to produce a series of hard-hitting news stories.
The Frinton campus media department became a newsroom for the day and was buzzing with excitement as pupils raced to meet their strict 4pm deadline.
They had spent weeks preparing and researching stories on bullying, computer games and the General Election.
On the day, they wrote scripts, filmed segments to camera and edited the footage down into news packages before submitting them to the BBC.
English teacher David Thorogood said: “The whole day was a celebration of the cohesion between the staff and students.
“From teachers to ICT technicians, fresh-faced Year Sevens to students in their final years, everyone pulled together to make sure that it was a day to be remembered.”
