A NEW regular comedy night at the West Cliff Theatre, Clacton, starts tomorrow.
Independent comedy club House of Stand Up will be providing an acclaimed headliner to perform at the theatre on the last Friday of every month.
The first act chosen is Dave Johns, who has been a regular on the circuit since 1989 and has performed at all the major clubs and festivals worldwide, including performances in the Middle East, Hong Kong, Bangkok and even the Arctic.
He is a regular guest on comedy television panel shows, including Eight Out of Ten Cats and Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and has also appeared in late-night BBC3 sitcom Dogtown.
Dave is also an acclaimed actor, having appeared in One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest in the West End, Twelve Angry Men at the Assembly Theatre at the Edinburgh Festival and in the Odd Couple opposite Bill Bailey and Alan Davies at the same venue.
Theatre bosses are also promising a great line-up of support acts to join the acclaimed headliners on each show, with a mixture of observational gags, one-liners or even musical funnymen lined up in the coming months.
Advanced tickets for the show cost £12 on 01255 433344, and there is also a meal of curry and rice on offer for £4.50 if tickets are booked in advance.
Food will be served from 6pm, and the comedy starts at 8pm.
