TESCO staff working a late shift escaped a supermarket robbery unharmed.
A convoy of police vehicles searched the area and cordoned off the branch in St Osyth Road.
It was just before 8.30pm on Saturday when police were called to the Tesco store in Clacton.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in custody.
Staff are said to be shaken up but did not suffer any injuries.
Essex police has released no further details.
