WITH regard to the girl on the pavement in town begging. Doesn’t she feel embarrassed?
I know I and many passers-by do, on seeing her. This is not a third world country or a big city, where it is expected for the tourists. I was not sure if the notice “homeless and hungry” was for her or the dog as neither of them looked hungry or as if they had been sleeping rough. If people foolishly give money I wonder what it is spent on?
There is no need for begging and we can do without it in Clacton. Anyone homeless only has to go to the housing department where they will get help. There are also night shelters and I’m sure the police will do something and give advice, apart from move them on.
