HARLEM hot feet turn up the temperature to launch the 108th season of Clacton Arts and Literary society on Monday***17*** A Night at the Cotton Club with the Jiving Lindy Hoppers and the Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm orchestra jazzes up the first night with an exciting colourful and action packed jazz show.
The music, song and dance is based on the Cotton Club the famous nightclub that flourished in New York’s Harlem in the 1920’s and 30s.
The dance routines are recreated by the Jiving Lindy Hoppers who have won world wide acclaim for their spectacular and breathtaking performances of the Lindy Hop.
Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm orchestra and their guest vocalists will bring the humour and exuberant music of the era with classics like Jubilee Stomp, Swanee Shuffle and Jungle Jamboree.
They celebrate the early jazz pioneers to the classic orchestras of Duke Ellington and Louis Russell.
The Cotton Club opens at Clacton’s Princes Theatre at 7.30pm.
There will be limited admission from non members priced £10.
