GREEN ISLAND Gardens in Ardleigh is still opening its gates to show to share its stunning autumn colours.

Its a garden for all seasons with a kaleidoscope of colour and scents throught the year.

This country hideaway has been created by professional garden designer Fiona Edmond who reports that the autumn colour is 3-4 weeks earlier than usual following the recent dry sunny spell..

She has lovingly restored the 20-acre triangular garden in Park Road.

Fiona started her labour of love as a therapy when she was suffering from ME.

She has produced a series of structured gardens displaying a range of unusual trees, shrubs, bulbs and perennials.

There is a Japanese garden, a seaside cottage garden and cottage walk as well as a secret garden, bamboo dell and gravel garden to explore along with the pond and tree house.

Late summer perennials, acers and nyssas keep the garden colourful in the autumn.

The real beauty is in the way the plants are put together and colour is maintained all year round with the foliage as well as the flowers.
