THE Walton mud rescue team were called to help after a woman became stuck in mud up to her knees.

The 22 year-old sank into soft mud in Harkstead by the River Stour, but the local coastguards called on the Walton crew due to their expertise.

She was unsure of her position, but the rescue chopper located her at around 1.30pm on Sunday, and was able to winch her to safety.

Paramedics checked her over but she did not need medical assistance.

Clacton lifeboat was also called out on Sunday to help a speedboat which had broken down in the Gunfleet windfarm.

The lifeboat towed the boat back to Point Clear where safety advice was given.
