A KEEN golfer from Colchester has been named as the victim of an assault on Christmas Day.
Peter Irwin, co-owner of family-run Trowbridge Estate Agents in Connaught Avenue, Frinton, suffered a fractured skull following a fight outside the Ship Inn.
The 26-year-old was found unconscious outside the pub in Walton Road, Kirby-le-Soken, after what police described as a “large disturbance”.
His condition is said to be stable.
Two other men were also assaulted but not seriously injured.
David Irwin, Peter’s father, said: “It’s ruined our Christmas. We will have to defrost the turkey when he gets out of hospital and have Christmas then.
“He is a lovely and we couldn’t believe the calls we have had from his mates.
Police have arrested three men from Walton aged between 18 and 20 on suspicion of causing grievious bodily harm and affray.
They have been released on bail from Clacton police station until February 2.
