Evergreen Friendship Club.

ON May 26, members and guests gathered in the village hall to celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary.

As they arrived they were each presented with a golden rose buttonhole made by Mrs Vera Ruffell. In the hall there was a beautifully presented display, the work of Mrs Barbara Tricker, depicting photos and records of past members and friends.

After enjoyed a buffet prepared by Mrs Angela Stubbings, the three longest serving club members, Mrs Joyce Tricker, Mrs Pat Berriman and Mrs Connie Gosling, cut the celebration cake which had been made by Mrs Stubbings and iced by Adrian Watson.

Mrs Eileen Grayson won the ‘Something Golden’ competition with her cat ornament The club’s leader Joyce Watson and her husband Adrian were presented with flowers, chocolate and a rose bush.

The afternoon concluded with a talk by Barbara Faulkner entitled ‘Yesterday Once More’.
