A choir festival brought together more than 350 singers for a day of music and community.

The Raise Your Voices East Coast Choir Festival held at the Columbine Centre, in Walton, welcomed choirs from across Essex and Suffolk for a celebration of singing, connection, and community spirit.

Lisa Strong, organiser of the festival and leader of The Walton Feel Good Choir Community, said: "This was an event I’d been dreaming about and planning for a long time, so to see it all come to life in my own hometown was incredibly special.

"We packed the Columbine with beautiful singing of all different kinds, and the energy, enthusiasm and joy in the room were just wonderful."

A wide range of choirs took part, including Jaywick Sands Singers, Women in Harmony of Walton, Harwich Sing Tendring Voices, The Rabble Chorus, The Frintones, Home Instead dementia-friendly singers and singers from Sailship Training and Learning for Life

The event closed with a performance by an over 350-strong "super choir" which sang Stand By Me alongside the dementia-friendly choirs.

The festival was made possible thanks to funding from the Healthier Habits fund from Essex County Council and proceeds from a raffle.
