A violent offender who rammed a police car and drove through a garden to escape arrest is back behind bars.
Ricky Patmore, 30, was wanted on recall to prison when he was spotted by Essex Police Dog Unit officer PC Martin Swain in South Ockendon on June 14.
PC Swain identified a grey MG linked to Patmore and saw it pull into a driveway.
Patmore had previously been jailed in 2022 for robbery and aggravated burglary.
Before PC Swain could reach him, Patmore suddenly reversed the MG towards the officer, striking the police vehicle and causing substantial damage.
PC Swain took cover, then moved to the passenger side and smashed the window, confirming Patmore was the driver.

Patmore then drove across a front garden and sped away.
The MG was later found abandoned on farmland by another Dog Unit officer.
A manhunt led officers from the Grays Local Policing Team and Dog Unit to Colchester, where Patmore was found sitting in a parked Ford Kuga.
Despite being ordered to stop, he again drove dangerously as police tried to detain him.
An officer reached through the window to remove the keys, but Patmore reversed, dragging the officer with the vehicle before crashing into a lamppost.
Officers smashed the window and used a Taser before pulling him from the car and arresting him.
Patmore pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving, assault of an emergency worker, and driving without a licence or insurance.
He was recalled to prison and sentenced to a year and nine months at Southend Crown Court on Friday, October 9.
He was also banned from driving for two years and nine months.
Sergeant Mason Doyle, who led the operation to locate Patmore, said: "Patmore knew he was wanted and, on two separate occasions, demonstrated just how dangerously he was prepared to drive while officers were attempting to arrest him.
"That did not deter us.
"Our officers continued working to establish where he was until we were able to track him down and put him back in custody.
"This was a determined team effort involving colleagues across Essex Police, and a violent offender is now back behind bars where he belongs."
Sgt Doyle warned others who might consider evading arrest in a similar way.
He said: "Anyone who thinks they can evade arrest by driving dangerously should be in no doubt that we will continue working to find them and bring them into custody."
