Armed police rushed to a street in Essex after a report was made of a man holding a firearm.
Officers were called to Melbourne Avenue in Chelmsford at 2.45pm on Monday, September 14, after receiving a report of a man who appeared to be holding a firearm.
Chief Inspector Michelle Sparks said: "When reports are received that suggest there may be a firearm in a public place, we will always respond quickly and robustly to protect the public and establish the facts.

"I’d like to thank the member of the public who reported this incident to us and for the patience and cooperation of all those in the area during our response."
Officers, both armed and unarmed, arrived at the scene and investigated the situation.
Police have since confirmed that at this stage there is no wider risk to the community and no further action is required from the public.
