A CONCERT celebrating the birth of rock’n’roll is coming to the West Cliff Theatre in Clacton.
Sun Records, The Concert tells the story of the legendary Memphis label which launched the careers of music icons including Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Roy Orbison.
The two-hour show will be performed on Saturday, October 24, and is the only production officially endorsed by Sun Records.
The musical journey will takes audiences inside the studio where rock’n’roll was born.
The show's producer Pete Tobit said: "During the fifties, the trailblazing Sun Studio created the songs that became the template of rock’n’roll.
"That's Alright Mama, Great Balls of Fire, I Walk the Line, Whole Lotta Shakin', Blue Suede Shoes and Good Rockin’ Tonight were all original Sun recordings.
"Musical visionary Sam Phillips crafted the distinctive sound we know and love today from gospel, blues, hillbilly, country, boogie and western swing.
"Sun Records, The Concert takes the audience right inside the studio where the magic happened and lets the music do the talking."
The show features a multi-talented cast of singers and musicians and promises to bring the "Sun Sound" to life using period instruments and authentic arrangements.
