Schools in Clacton, Bicknacre, Harwich and Basildon are recruiting leaders for upcoming vacancies. The four vacancies offer leadership opportunities across Essex primary schools, with varying responsibilities and salary ranges.
St Clare’s Catholic Primary School, Clacton
St Clare’s Catholic Primary School is seeking a head teacher from January 1 2027.
The school is looking for a practising Catholic with outstanding leadership experience, who can provide strategic direction and lead its day-to-day management.
Applicants may be Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers or Assistant Head Teachers. The successful candidate will be expected to promote a child-centred vision, support Catholic education and work with parents, parish and the wider school community.
The salary is L17 to L24, around just under £80,000 to £93,000.

Priory Primary School, Bicknacre
Priory Primary School is recruiting a headteacher to lead the five-class village school from January 1 2027.
The governors are seeking someone who can inspire staff, maintain high expectations, deliver an inclusive curriculum and work effectively with families, governors and the wider community.
The school says pupil numbers are continuing to grow and it is well placed to return to a 30-pupil admission number. Visits can be arranged during the week commencing Monday September 7.
The salary is L8 to L14, around £63,000 to £73,000.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Harwich
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is seeking a head of school from January 1 2027.
The successful applicant will work with the Local Governing Body and the Rosary Trust, leading the school’s strategic direction and day-to-day management.
Applicants are invited from experienced Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers or Assistant Head Teachers. The role requires a practising Catholic who can support faith and spirituality, promote an inclusive vision and work with parents and the parish.
The salary is LS7 to LS11, typically ranging from £62,000 to £68,000.

Kingswood Primary School and Nursery, Basildon

The role involves building on existing strengths, driving improvement and ensuring safeguarding and wellbeing remain central to decision-making.
The salary is L15 to L20, £73,000 to £82,000, with fringe negotiable depending on experience.
