Primark shoppers will soon be able to have their favourite fashion items delivered straight to their doors.
The budget retailer’s owner, Associated British Foods (ABF), has confirmed plans to launch home delivery across Great Britain in a bid to bolster its online offering.
The new service will be available in England, Scotland, and Wales, though a launch date has not yet been announced.
George Weston, chief executive of ABF, said: "Primark has made significant progress in building its digital capabilities and will continue this through both growing click and collect and by offering home delivery in Great Britain in the future.
"There is now an opportunity for incremental and profitable growth through this channel."
To support the move, ABF has purchased a highly automated warehouse in Sheffield from the Debenhams Group in a £90 million deal.
The company says the new site is not expected to impact existing jobs.
The announcement builds on Primark’s growing click-and-collect service, which allows customers to order online and pick up items in-store.
Recent price reductions across hundreds of products have also helped boost sales, particularly in nightwear, leisurewear, and fitness ranges.
Dan Coatsworth, head of markets at AJ Bell, described the news as a major shift for the retailer.
He said: "Primark offering home delivery was the biggest UK retail news of the year.
"Having full online transactional capabilities is something the company has always shied away from.
"It has always argued that low price-point items are uneconomical to send, particularly if someone is only ordering a pair of socks or a T-shirt costing a pound or two.
"It stubbornly retained this view for longer than anyone expected, before easing back by launching a click-and-collect service.
"We’re now primed for the full home delivery experience.
"While physical stores remain relevant, online shopping is well established and Primark clearly had no choice but to adapt to the modern retail world."

In a trading update, ABF reported that Primark sales are expected to have fallen by 2.6 per cent over the past financial year, largely due to weaker performance in continental Europe.
UK sales, however, are estimated to have grown by 0.6 per cent year-on-year.
The company also owns brands including Kingsmill, Twinings, Jordans, Patak’s, and Hovis, and plans to separate Primark from its food business and list it as a standalone company on the FTSE 100 by the end of 2027.
