Clacton Pier seeks licence extension for longer hours

An application has been submitted to Tendring Council for a variation in Clacton Pier's licence to broaden the scope of activities and extend operating hours.

The proposal outlines a range of activities, including plays, films, indoor sports, boxing or wrestling events, live and recorded music, dance performances and similar activities.

If approved, films and indoor sporting events could take place from 7am to 11pm every day, while plays, boxing or wrestling entertainments, live music, recorded music, dance performance, and anything similar could take place from 11am to 11pm every day.

The company also applied to extend the hours for supplying alcohol, proposing the same 11am to 11pm timeframe.

The application is currently under consideration by Tendring Council as the licensing authority for the area.

Members of the public who wish to make representations concerning this application can do so in writing to the council’s licensing section.

Representations can also be made in person at the council offices at the Town Hall, Station Road, Clacton.

The public register is available for viewing during normal office hours.

All representations must be received by the licensing authority no later than September 26, 2026.

It is an offence to knowingly or recklessly make a false statement in connection with an application.

This carries a maximum fine of £5,000 upon summary conviction.
