CLACTON Pier will offer discounted wristbands for emergency-service workers and other Blue Light Card holders this weekend as part of a new event aimed at recognising those on the frontline.
The seafront attraction’s first-ever Blue Light Weekend takes place on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13. Eligible visitors will be able to buy reduced-price wristbands for the pier’s rides and attractions.
The event is one of 12 planned by the pier across 2026 and follows feedback from customers, said general manager Harry Peek.
The programme was designed to bring visitors into Clacton and the wider Tendring district, while keeping family entertainment affordable, he said.
The offer is likely to appeal to NHS staff, police officers, firefighters, armed-forces personnel and other workers entitled to hold a Blue Light Card — although visitors should check the pier’s own terms and prices before travelling.
It comes as Clacton’s famous pier heads into a packed autumn calendar. Oktoberfest is scheduled for two weekends later in September, followed by a new Halloween attraction, Clacton FEAR!, promising scare mazes, rides in the dark and live entertainment.
Mr Peek said the pier’s calendar was created with families and value in mind.
“We are expecting that not only will they bring people onto the pier but also into the town and district and boost tourism,” he said.
