A carnival is set to take over a town with a full day of dog-friendly fun.
The Canine Carnival will take place at Lower Park Road Playing Fields, in Brightlingsea, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10am to 6pm.
Hosted by local business, Dear Dogs, the event promises a packed schedule of entertainment, stalls, and food, with the highlight being the RSPCA Essex Mid & North Branch’s Bark in the Park Fun Dog Show.
Steph Smith, founder of Dear Dogs and organiser of the event, said: "We are so excited to bring the Canine Carnival to Brightlingsea.
"It’s set to be a brilliant day out for the whole community and their furry best friends.
"Partnering with the RSPCA Essex Mid & North team for Bark in the Park was a no-brainer for us—they do such vital, heart warming work in our area, and we’re proud to host them and give local dog owners a chance to show off their amazing pets."
The dog show will feature a variety of classes to suit every dog, regardless of breed or agility, from Carnival Cutie and Golden Oldie to the crowd-pleasing Showstopper Trick.
Rosettes will be awarded to the top three in each class, with prize bundles for winners.
Local businesses are also supporting the event by sponsoring individual classes.
All proceeds from the class entries will go directly to support local animals in need.

Derrick Yapp, income generation manager at RSPCA Essex Mid & North, said: "We are immensely grateful to Steph and the team at Dear Dogs for inviting us to be part of the Canine Carnival this year.
"Organising an event of this scale takes incredible dedication, and Steph’s support means the world to us.
"I’d also like to extend a massive thank you to all the fantastic local businesses who have generously sponsored our dog show classes and donated prizes.
"As a separately registered charity from the national RSPCA, every penny raised from our dog show classes goes directly toward caring for local animals in need right here in our community."
Entry to the event is £4 online in advance or £5 on the day, with under-fives admitted free of charge.
Dog show class entries cost £2.50 per class online or £3 on the day.
