THE Robin Cancer Trust is encouraging people across Essex to put on their brightest pants for the annual Pants to Cancer Walk.

Now in its sixth year, the walk on Sunday, September 20, calls for participants to wear their brightest pants over their clothes and shout "Pants to Cancer!".

Toby Freeman, founder and chief executive of The Robin Cancer Trust, said: "We’re so excited to bring the Pants to Cancer walk back for its sixth year.

"Last year’s event welcomed more than 100 participants, making it our biggest walk yet, and it was fantastic to see so many people getting behind our mission in such a fun and memorable way."

The seven-mile route stretches from Clacton Pier to Walton Pier, with an option to complete the 14-mile round trip.

Entry fees are £12 for adults and £6 for under-18s, and all participants receive a medal.

Toby said: "Whether you’re walking in superhero pants, colourful boxers or giant novelty bloomers, every step helps us raise awareness of cancers that are often diagnosed too late.

"We can’t wait to see more people joining us this September to help save lives."

The walk is suitable for wheelchair users, and well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome.

Participants are encouraged to fundraise, with every pound supporting the charity’s work to raise awareness of germ cell cancers and provide educational talks and support services.

This year’s event is sponsored by East Coast 5, the Daniel Connal Partnership, and Hayes Garage.

The charity is inviting more businesses to sponsor the walk or take part with their teams.

Registration is available via The Robin Cancer Trust website.
