Essex fire crews have continued to support efforts to tackle a major wildfire that broke out across the county border.
Firefighters from Saffron Walden have been assisting Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service in dealing with the blaze at Dunwich Heath, which burned through land equivalent to 146 football pitches.
A spokesperson for Saffron Walden Fire Station said yesterday: "Today, some of our crew travelled east to assist Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service at the Dunwich Heath wildfire incident.
"The fire is now under control, so we were mobilised to assist with turning over and damping down any remaining hotspots, ensuring no flare-ups occurred."
On July 29, a wildfire ignited and rapidly spread onto Dunwich Heath, leaving the surrounding landscape consumed by flames.
The National Trust has launched a fundraiser to help restore the site, describing the damage as "heart-breaking".

A Saffron Walden Fire Station spokesman also encouraged residents to download the what3words app to help emergency services locate incidents more accurately, especially in remote areas.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue said around 120 firefighters were involved at the peak of the response, making it the county’s largest ever wildfire operation.
