Tendring Council hosts community fun day in Clacton

The event, organised by Tendring Council, attracted tenants, residents and families to Rush Green Recreation Ground for an afternoon of activities and support.

Children enjoyed a bouncy castle, soft play, face painting, live music, sports sessions and the chance to meet Shetland ponies.

A number of organisations were on hand to provide information and assistance, including Peabody, Bill Clinic, Parents 1st, Essex Police and Essex Fire and Rescue.

Residents could speak with the council's tenant involvement team about housing services .

Tendring Council leader Mark Stephenson said the event highlighted the importance of bringing communities together.

“It was wonderful to see so many families, tenants and residents come together and enjoy the day," he said.

“There was a real buzz, from children meeting the mini ponies and having their faces painted to residents chatting with staff and partner organisations in a relaxed setting.”

The event also promoted the work of the council's tenant panel, which is made up of volunteers who help ensure residents' views are reflected in housing services.

Mr Stephenson added: “Events like this show that tenant involvement can be simple and welcoming — a chance to ask questions, share ideas and help shape services.

“As the largest provider of social housing in Tendring, with more than 3,000 council homes and 450 leasehold properties, we know how important it is that tenants have a real voice.”

Tenant panel chairwoman Carol McDougall said the day had been a success.

She added: “There was a lovely atmosphere throughout the day, with tenants and families enjoying themselves while finding out more about the services available to them.

“The tenant panel helps make sure residents’ views are heard, and days like this show that getting involved can be friendly, practical and worthwhile.”

The council is encouraging more tenants and leaseholders, including younger residents, to get involved and help shape housing services in the future.
