ENGLAND fans across Tendring can cheer on the Three Lions at their locals in the early hours of Monday morning after pub opening hours were extended.
England face Mexico in a last-16 clash on Monday, after victory against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Pubs and bars in England will be permitted to stay open until 5am on Monday morning to so supporters can watch the match, which kicks off at 1am.
The extension removes the need for premises to apply individually for longer opening hours and means licensed venues can remain open for the duration of the game.
The government said the move has been made so communities can come together to support England as they continue their World Cup campaign
Tendring Council leader Mark Stephenson said: “We're pleased the government has recognised the importance of this occasion by extending licensing hours for England's World Cup match against Mexico.
“Football has a unique way of bringing people together, and this change means supporters can enjoy the match with friends, family and fellow fans in their local pubs without venues having to worry about licensing restrictions.
“It's also good news for our hospitality businesses, giving them the chance to benefit from what we all hope will be a memorable evening.
“Like many people across Tendring, I'll be cheering England on myself, and I hope everyone enjoys the occasion, supports the team, and celebrates responsibly so it's a positive experience for everyone."
Residents are encouraged to check with pubs and bars for opening arrangements, as individual premises will decide whether to stay open for the match.
