A banking giant has confirmed it will be closing down one of its Essex branches as part of a wider wave of high street banking cuts across the UK.
Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed that its Halifax branch at 43 Station Road in Clacton will shut as it continues to cut back its physical network in response to growing demand for digital banking.
The Halifax site is one of 48 branches set to close nationwide, alongside 31 Lloyds Bank locations.
This latest round of closures follows an earlier announcement in February, when the group said it would shut 95 branches across the country.
The decision comes as more customers choose to manage their finances online or through mobile apps rather than visiting branches in person.
However, the closure is expected to cause concerns for some residents, especially older people and those without internet access who rely on face-to-face banking services.
Clacton is not the only area in the county affected by the latest cuts.
Halifax branches in Chelmsford and Southend are also scheduled to close, further limiting in-person banking options across Essex.

Once the latest closures are complete, Lloyds Banking Group will have just 531 branches remaining across Britain, a sharp decline from previous years.
No closure date has yet been confirmed for the Clacton branch, raising further questions for customers who depend on the service.
