CLACTON Pier is offering free rides for mums on Mother's Day.

The promotion, now in its third year, gives one adult a free wristband with every child’s Big Day Out Band purchased, allowing mums to enjoy free rides alongside their children at no extra cost.

Nigel Brown, communications manager at Clacton Pier, said: "The kids come down and love going on the rides but the fun isn’t just for the youngsters.

"Adults can join it too, and on Mother’s Day we will not charge the mums for rides so that cost is no barrier to them taking part.

"Because we know that family situations can differ, the offer is also extended to all those who are identify as ‘mum’ – whether that be a grandma, auntie or a guardian over 18."

The offer also applies to children with annual passes, with an unlimited rides band issued to one adult per passholder.

Clacton Pier will have a similar promotion on June 21 for Father’s Day, extending the free rides offer to dads, granddads, uncles and other guardians.

Nigel said: "We hope that lots of families will take advantage of the offer and it will be a chance for them to go on the newly-refurbished Helter Skelter which reopened at the weekend.

"Lots of people turned up to have a go – or just admire the work that has been carried out – and the feedback we received was extremely positive.

"It made all the many months of hard work worthwhile."
