Clacton McDonald's donates to mental wellbeing group

The donation came from Craig Newnes, managing director of McDonald's Clacton, and will be used to support mental health services and community projects.

Craig said: "I'm really proud to support this local charity that really supports our local community in this most important area of mental wellbeing and I hope to see our partnership grow with future projects and financial support."

The group is also preparing to launch its Chatty Café project, planned to start soon once enough volunteers are recruited and completed the training.

The project aims to reduce isolation and encourage connections and in time, friendships over a chat and free cuppa at regular meet-ups in cafés in the area.

Volunteers are currently being trained, and the team at Clacton McDonald's have offered to work in partnership with the group on the project.

Annie Myatt, one of the organisers Clacton Coastal Mental Wellbeing's choir, the Jaywick Sands Singers, said: "The donation will help the choir continue bringing the community together to enjoy the positive benefits singing has for both physical and mental health."
