A WALTON primary school has officially opened its new nursery.
Lift Hamford Primary Academy recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new nursery provision for two-to-four-year-olds., which opened at the start of this year.
The new nursery includes two classrooms, a cloakroom and an outdoor playground.
Ruth Murad, director of primary education at Lift Schools, said: "I am delighted to open the nursery at Lift Hamford.
"This is a very welcome addition to the school and having a nursery on site means we can provide a seamless educational journey for children, meaning the number of changes the children experience is reduced, when they join full time school in Reception.
"I would also like to thank the children very much for counting down so beautifully for me to cut the ribbon."
The ceremony was attended by nursery children, representatives from Lift Schools and visitors from the council.
Noelene Vorster, acting head of school at Lift Hamford Primary Academy, said: "Thank you to everyone who came to our nursery opening and celebratory tea.
"We know our local families would like their children to start nursery with us and continue on to school.

Following the ceremony, children received Lift Hamford tote bags filled with treats to enjoy at home.
Parents can now apply for nursery places beginning this summer and beyond as the nursery prepares to reach full capacity.
