A primary school has increased its capacity with two new classrooms.
Lift Hamford Primary Academy, in Elm Tree Avenue, Walton, celebrated the opening of its new nursery last week.
The new space consists of two classrooms, a cloakroom and a playground, which opened to children at the start of this year.
Children aged between two and four will be able to use the space where they will learn their primary educational skills.
Children at the nursery, representatives from Lift Schools and visitors from the council gathered at the school for a special ribbon cutting and celebratory tea.
The children showed their maths skills by counting down from 10 to 1, before the ribbon cutting.
Headteacher Noelene Vorster said: “Thank you to everyone who came to our nursery opening and celebratory tea.
"We know our local families would like their children to start nursery with us and continue on to school.
“This new provision means we will be able to meet the needs of our community, whilst maintaining our reputation for offering children a high standard of education at Hamford.
"The pupils are already settling in well, love their new space and have started making lots of friends.”
After a special nursery opening tea, the children were given tote bags, with some special treats to enjoy at home.
Ruth Murad, Lift Schools director of primary education, said: “I am delighted to open the nursery at Lift Hamford.
"This is a very welcome addition to the school and having a nursery on site means we can provide a seamless educational journey for children, meaning the number of changes the children experience is reduced, when they join full time school in reception.
“I would also like to thank the children very much for counting down so beautifully for me to cut the ribbon”
Applications are currently open to parents to apply for nursery spaces from the summer and beyond, as the nursery expands to full capacity.
