23-year-old runs Essex town's most affordable furniture shop

And now its founder is urging more people to take advantage of her January sale.

FH Furniture, owned by 23-year-old Faith Hewitt, opened its doors in June 2025 with a clear mission: to bring affordable, stylish, British-made furniture to the heart of the town.

Just six months on, Faith says business is growing steadily, with big plans on the horizon.

Throughout January, the shop is offering between 10 and 20 per cent off selected items, including its popular handmade British sofas.

Faith says the decision to launch a sale was driven by a desire to support local families during a difficult time of year.

“I’m just trying to get the word out there that we’re currently doing 10 to 20 per cent off throughout January,” she said.

“It’s about saving the local area money, especially on quality handmade British sofas.

“Shopping local is cheaper, especially at FH Furniture. We are the most affordable shop in the area. January can be really hard for families after Christmas, and although our prices are low already, I just thought it would help some people along if they’re struggling.”

FH Furniture stocks a wide range of budget-friendly items, with prices starting from around £100, and around 95 per cent of its products are sourced from British manufacturers.

The shop also offers custom-made sofas, allowing customers to choose styles and fabrics without the premium price tag often associated with bespoke furniture.

"We do custom sofas at really good quality, and with this 10% they are going to be able to save so much money."

Faith, who balances running the shop alongside a full-time admin job at an energy company, renovated the premises herself before opening and documented the process on TikTok.

She also built the company website, which is now fully live and trading.

“It’s been going really well,” she said.

“People have been popping in since putting up the sale, but I want more people to know about it. We are a professional company now, and I have so many big ideas.

“With time and over the next six months, it’s going to be really good. I’m really excited.”

Inspired by her mum, who also works in the furniture industry, Faith hopes her growing business will continue to bring something positive to the High Street.

“I just want to help people and give something back to the town,” she added. “Even a small shop can make a big difference.”
