AN Olivier Award-winning musical is coming to Clacton's Princes Theatre.
Come From Away will run from Thursday, January 15 to Saturday, January 17.
The musical tells the true story of 7,000 air passengers unexpectedly stranded in Gander, Newfoundland after the 9/11 attacks.
Despite doubling its population overnight, the tight-knit community opened its doors to welcome the unexpected arrivals.
Brought to life by The Princes Acting Centre, the production has garnered international acclaim, including four Olivier Awards and a Tony Award for best direction.
Melissa Wenn, director at the Princes Acting Centre, said the show remains relevant and emotionally resonant more than two decades after the events which inspired it.
She said: "Although Come From Away is rooted in the events of September 11, one of the darkest and most defining days in recent history, this production is not about the tragedy itself, but about the compassion that rose from it.
"In the small town of Gander, strangers became family, fear was met with generosity, and kindness became a lifeline.
"What makes this production especially poignant is that most of our cast were not yet born when these events took place.
"And yet, they have approached this story with astonishing maturity, empathy and dedication.
"Through this process, they’ve discovered not only the historical significance of that week in 2001, but also the enduring power of community and kindness."
The cast includes Bryony Diss, who plays Captain Beverley Bass, the first female captain for American Airlines, and will perform the emotional solo Me and the Sky.
Gary Scott, councillor responsible for arts, culture and heritage at Tendring Council, praised the team behind the show.
