A FRINTON club is celebrating the end of its 16 days of activism.

Frinton Women's Institute took part in 16 Days of Activism, spreading awareness about gender-based violence.

Members worked with Shaines Coffee House, local author Steven Walker, Cinema on Sea, Fitsteps and The Frintones Choir to stage awareness events.

Frinton WI delivered a varied programme ranging from a reflective vigil to a celebratory Big Splash, creating spaces for remembrance, learning and hope.

Through their fundraising, £568 was raised for Next Chapter, a refugee for people suffering from domestic abuse, based in Colchester.

Members also donated homemade stockings filled with more than 200 toys, alongside hygiene products and collected handbags for the Love Grace charity, which provides practical and financial support for survivors.

They also took part in specialist training focused on standing up to harassment and learning about coercive control.

WI spokeswoman Kathy Stapleton said: “Gender-based violence affects lives, families and communities every day.

"By coming together during the 16 Days of Activism, we wanted to honour survivors, remember those lost, and send a clear message that everyone deserves to live without fear.

"Awareness saves lives, and community action gives hope.

"Frinton WI would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all partners, supporters, and members of the community who took part and helped make the 16 Days of Activism a meaningful and inspiring success."
