Walton Women author spreads Christmas cheer to charities

Steven Walker recently published Walton Women, celebrating the lives of women in the town.

The book has sold out of its initial print run, and all proceeds are being donated to charity.

So far, Steven has donated £250 to the Walton and District Community Foodbank.

He also gave a talk to the Frinton Women's Institute and sold 13 copies, raising a £130 for the Next Chapter Domestic Abuse charity.

Steven said: "It took a lot of work to create the book, which local people wrote following a request for contributions.

"There are 50 women featured in the book, including many who contributed to the local community through voluntary or charitable work, as well as other historic figures who achieved international fame.

"There's a considerable amount of information including a connection with suffragettes fighting for women's equality and a lady who was sadly hanged after being accused of witchcraft in the mid-17th century.

"I've had many positive comments about the book and helpful feedback to improve the content."
