A West End star returned to his Clacton roots to inspire the next generation of performers.
Chris Gopaul, a former student of The Princes Youth Theatre in Clacton, returned to the theatre and led a workshop for current students.
Now a seasoned performer, Chris has appeared in Dreamgirls, Hairspray, and Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations, and most recently, MJ the Musical.
During his visit, he led an energetic workshop focused on acting, singing, and dancing, using material from MJ the Musical to give students a taste of life in professional theatre.
Melissa Wenn, from The Princes Youth Theatre, said: "The students were completely captivated.
"Chris’s journey is a reminder that with hard work and belief, anything is possible."
Students later travelled to London’s Prince Edward Theatre to Chris in action in MJ the Musical, where he plays Quincy Jones and Tito Jackson.
Gary Scott, councillor responsible for arts, culture and heritage at Tendring Council, said: "Chris’s return shows just how far local talent can go.
"The Princes Youth Theatre is a launchpad for young people with big dreams, and we’re proud to support it."

Chris's visit has reignited ambition among the students, many of whom returned with renewed motivation to pursue careers in the arts.
