OLDER Tendring residents are invited to a free event to help them stay safe at home in the community.

The Older Persons Crucial Crew event, organised by the Tendring Community Safety Partnership and Tendring Council, will be held at the Princes Theatre in Clacton from 10am to 3pm on Wednesday, October 1.

Councillor Mark Stephenson, leader of Tendring Council, said: "This event is a great opportunity for older people in our district to access free, practical advice that can help them stay safe and well.

"Whether it’s tips for staying warm in winter or knowing what to do in an emergency, the Crucial Crew brings together expert partners to share important messages in a friendly and supportive setting."

The event will offer advice on crime prevention, fire safety, and how to prepare for emergencies, with support from a wide range of organisations.

These include Essex Police, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, Essex Adult Social Care, East Anglian Ambulance Service, Safer Roads Partnerships, Age Well East, Clacton Lions, Tendring Specialist Stroke Services, Tendring Community Transport and Essex Sight.

Community Voluntary Services Tendring will also be distributing Winter Warmer packs to eligible attendees.

Mr Stephenson said: "We’re pleased to be working with our partners to highlight everyday risks and provide clear, useful information that could help save lives and improve quality of life for our residents."

The event is free to attend, with teas and coffees served on arrival.

Free parking is available for Tendring residents with a valid pass after 11am in nearby High Street and Wellesley Road car parks.
