This Dragons' Den star once lived along the Essex coastline, when she was just a young girl.

Deborah Meaden, 66, was born in Taunton, Somerset, but moved to Essex in the 1960s.

Speaking to Great British Life magazine, Deborah revealed she lived in Brightlingsea while mum Sonia was working in nearby Clacton.

While she was struggling to make a living, she left her daughters in the care of a Brightlingsea fisherman and his family.

Deborah remembers being three or four years old when her sister began school in Frinton.

She described her time in Essex as "magical".

She moved away from the county when she was seven as her mum remarried and the family moved to Wiltshire.

Deborah has gone on to have a successful business career, being a staple on Dragons' Den for nearly 20 series of the hit show.

She owns a number of businesses in leisure, fashion and many more areas, as well as having invested in more than 60 start-ups on Dragons' Den.
