STUDYING at college on the weekdays and rocking out on stage on the weekends... that's the life of 17-year-old musician Codi Rox.
From being inspired by P!NK on the radio at ten years old to releasing her first ever song, Codi is making waves in the music world.
She has performed across Essex and even helps set up stages for other bands.
Star - Codi Rox (Image: Codi Rox) Codi, from Clacton, has been obsessed with music all her life and releasing a song has been on her "musical bucket list" ever since she was ten years old.
After working with Black Cactus Studios she was able to achieve that dream with the release of her new song Fears of the Whispers.
Codi, who studies at Colchester Institute, said: "Releasing Fears of the Whispers is definitely something I'm very proud of.
"I've always known I've wanted to do music and release songs and finally reaching that point is absolutely incredible.
"It has been on my musical bucket list for years and I have finally been able to tick it off my list.
"It's really exciting to bring stuff out there because when I perform people ask if they can listen to my music on streaming services and previously I'd have had to say no.
"But it is nice to finally have somewhere I can point them in the direction of."
Song - Codi Rox (Image: Codi Rox) The song is about Codi's struggles at secondary school.
She said: "I had a difficult time at secondary school especially during my GCSEs.
"I had music on my mind the whole year.
"I used to compare myself with all those big kids in London and I felt like I was ten steps behind because I'm in Clacton.
"Nobody knew who I was and I constantly felt like I was running out of time to achieve anything.
"My song is about the fears of overthinking and fears of the whispers in the back of your head - overthinking as a teenager."
The young singer-songwriter started learning instruments during lockdown where she taught herself piano, drums, guitar and bass.
Young - Codi Rox (Image: Codi Rox) One of Codi's biggest inspirations is pop-rock legend P!NK, who she recalls listening to for the first time in the back of the car.
She said: "When I was 10 I started listening to the radio in the back of the car and one of P!NK's songs came on and I loved it.
"I bought her latest album and my parents took me to see her live a couple of times.
"I fell in love with her - the way she does stuff - she is my biggest inspiration."
Codi's song Fear of the Whispers is available to listen to on all good streaming services.
