AN Essex Police officer gave scam-busting tips during an event in Frinton.

Fraud prevention officer Tammy Blest spoke to residents at Frinton Free Church alongside the area's police community support officers.

She gave advice about fraud and scam prevention to more than 80 people in attendance.

Participants received valuable information, purse bells, and card defenders to help protect themselves from potential scams.

A purse bell is a small audible security device which is designed to make a noise and alert bag owners to a potential theft or pick-pocketer.
