A sea shanty band took to the stage of Colchester Arts Centre at the weekend to perform to a large crowd of fans.

Brightlingsea's Motley Crew Sea Shantymen have been travelling across the UK, singing at fetes, parties, weddings and more for the past 25 years.

Colchester Arts Centre was graced with the band's presence as they belted out their best tunes and shanties.

A Motley Crew spokesman said: "We've supported lots of charities over the years, but our main charity is the RNLI.

"As most of us sail, they figure it's a good investment, and we've raised thousands of pounds for this worthy cause.

"We don’t take ourselves too seriously.

"Audiences appreciate our robust, light-hearted style and so long as everyone enjoys themselves and the RNLI gets a few more well-deserved pennies out of their efforts, that’s all that matters."
