AN award-winning film made by a Thorpe-le-Soken producer will be shown in a special one-off screening event.

Longhurst and Putt Productions was stunned when its film Lucas and Albert beat Hollywood blockbusters such as 1917 to win best feature at the National Film Awards in 2021.

The film will now be shown at Harwich's Electric Palace on February 4 at 7pm.

Producer Anthony Longhurst said: "This screening will kick off the events that will lead up to the release of our next film Tales of the Underworld, which is a sort of a prequel to Lucas and Albert.

"We are using this to show people what is to come. We will also be screening a short film Lay-By by local writer Julian White, plus a trailer for Babysitters which we hope to put into production this year.

"We will also be screening an exclusive look at Tales of the Underworld and revealing the poster.

"We hope this will put us on track to release Tales of the Underworld in the next few months."

There will also be a question and answer session.

Mr Longhurst continued: "During the filming of Tales, several of the cast and crew lost loved ones to cancer, so we will be using this film along with subsequent screening to help raise money for Cancer Research.

"We feel that we have to do something as it really brought it home to us that sometimes there are more important things."

Tickets cost £16, with £5 going towards Cancer Research.
