AT the July meeting, members heard a very interesting talk by Barbara Faulkner on the history of Ascot Racecourse.
The Racecourse was started in the 1700's at the request of Queen Anne and has grown gradually with patronage from the succeeding royal households.
Members wore hats to try and recreate the atmosphere of Ladies Day and there was a horse race game.
The competition for an old piece of jewellery was won by Gill.
The next meeting is on September 10 when Linda Young will tell us about Tablet and Inkle Weaving.'
