A COMMUNITY stalwart has had a town hall noticeboard unveiled in her memory in celebration of her dedication and commitment to the organisations she served.
Caroline Blackler, from Frinton, died peacefully in hospital on March 23 last year, leaving behind husband Brian and children Anthony and Louise.
The 76-year-old was also a loving grandmother to Ryan, Sarah, Benjamin, Hugh and Zara, as well as a much adored and beloved sister.
Throughout her time in the seaside town Caroline was the president of the Frinton Women’s Institute and chairwoman of the McGrigor Hall Committee.
She has now been honoured during an event and poignant ceremony at the McGrigor Hall, which was attended by her family and friends.
Representatives from Inner Wheel, Probus, Frinton Summer Theatre, Saxons, Frinton Players, the Bridge Club, Caxton’s Book Club and many more also turned out.
During the day, guests enjoyed an afternoon tea while exchanging memories and anecdotes of the “remarkable” woman and a noticeboard was named in her honour.
Janet Holyoake, from the Frinton Women’s Institute, which is chaired by president Lindsey Peters and arranged the event, said everyone was delighted to be able to commemorate Caroline.
She said: “The family and friends of Caroline Blackler joined together to celebrate a life which encompassed so many local organisations in Frinton.
“She will be remembered with huge affection by all who knew her.”
