A KIND youngster has taken on the challenge of a tough run to fundraise for charity and help one of her favourite teachers.
Tabitha Pickersgill, ten, attends All Saints Primary School in Great Oakley and took part in a Pretty Muddy run in Ipswich to fundraise for Cancer Research UK.
She is a member of Harwich and Dovercourt Swimming Club and took up the challenge to help her Year 6 teacher who was diagnosed with cancer in December.
Tabitha’s mother Danielle Pickersgill noted how much she was affected by not seeing her teacher.
She said: “Tabitha isn’t used to running but pushed through because she was inspired by her teacher.
“It was a 5k run in Trinity Park, Ipswich, with a lot of mud and obstacles and I’m proud of her for battling through it.”
Tabitha initially set a fundraising target of £100 and was elated by the results in the end.
Danielle added: “She smashed the initial target on the first day, so we upped it to £200 and she beat that a few days later.
“We set the final figure at £250 and she beat that, in the end we raised more than £300 and are massively overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity.”
