W.I: THERE was no meeting in January, our next meeting is February 5 at the Village Hall. This is our sixth birthday party which we are celebrating with a cheese and wine party and entertainment from Andy Craven with Let's Rock'. Guests and new members will be very welcome.

Gardening Club: OUR January meeting was a presentation by Llewellyn Jones on useful and edible plants in the hedgerow. As a botonist, Mr Jones talked us through what we could eat and how to cook it. We were surprised at what we could gather as free food, for example, beech tree leaves are great in a salad, nettle soup is delicious and you can also eat dock leaves and the leaves from ox-eye daisies. And when sloes have finished their process in sloe gin, dip them in chocolate for a juicy liqueurs, bang goes the diet! Our next meeting is February 19 at 8pm in the Village Hall. This will be a talk and a demonstration on what the judges are looking for'. Please come and join us either as either as a new member or a visitor.
