AN ASPIRING young couple have bought their first home after Covid cut their travelling plans unexpectedly short.

Sam Wilson,25, and Sallie Woodward,26, were looking forward to spending two years travelling and working in Australia but the pandemic turned their plans upside down.

Instead of rescheduling their trip, however, the Frinton couple shifted their priorities on finding their first house together.

Using the Help to Buy scheme, Sam and Sallie managed to secure a new home by putting down a five per cent deposit as opposed to the usual ten per cent.

Sallie said: “ We’re so glad we got the opportunity to use the scheme and were able to put down a smaller deposit – we wouldn’t have secured a three-bedroom detached without it!”

The couple is now settling into their three-bedroom house in Finches Park in Frinton, which was sold to them by Linden Homes.

Sallie added: “We knew about Finches Park through word of mouth and living in the area.

" If I’m honest, I was against buying a new build to begin with. But after Sam convinced me to look around it late last year, my opinion completely changed.

"I’m the biggest new-build convert going!”
