A BRICKWORK business is set to spearhead an event addressing unemployment rates and industry shortages immediately after opening a new complex.

DF Brickwork, based in Great Bentley, is hosting its self-dubbed Discovery Day on November 11 at what will be its brand-new Colchester Centre.

The all-day affair will follow a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the mayor of Colchester, Robert Davidson, which will officially launch the facility.

The event will enable industry figures to explore the company’s new centre while also discussing how the current skills shortage among workers can be tackled.

They will also offer career advice, address local unemployment rates and the creation of employment opportunities, and look at how to entice new recruits to the sector.

The free event, which will boast food and drink, is open to people from all walks of life, be it business employers or those looking for work.
