A SCHOOL teacher has been left feeling delighted after fending off a raft of educational competition to win a top accolade.

Sarah Edwards, a behaviour and well-being lead at Holland Park Primary School, has scooped the Multi Schools Council Teacher of the Year award.

She was presented with her prize during a ceremony held at Colchester United’s JobServe Community Stadium which was attended by 14 schools.

Mrs Edwards was also joined by headteacher Matthew Moseley and several excited Key Stage 2 students who all celebrated her success.

There were also prizes given to Holland Park Primary School itself, including School of the Year and the Mental Health Awareness award.

The latter comes ahead of the opening of a new Nurture Suite and well-being hub which will be run by learning mentor and nurture practitioner Angie Hope.

A spokesman for Holland Park Primary School said: “Mrs Edwards says mental health and well-being are a priority at our trauma informed and attachment aware school

“She would also like to thank the Clacton Lions for their kind donation towards resources for our Nurture Suite.

“As a school we have been lucky enough to work with the Multi Schools Council for many years.

“We have benefitted from the great support and training on offer and have helped the Multi Schools Council raise money for charity through sponsored events.

“We continue to work closely with the Multi Schools Council’s Kierran Pearce who will be working in school with us at various stages throughout this academic year.”
